Are you a vick hater?

I don't think what he did was right, but continuing to cry about it years after its happened and him trying to make it right seems silly. Not calling you out or saying you think A, but I get annoyed by the outrage against vick. Many people do way worse things every single day.

funny picture.

wisc, your comment surprises me. vick got off easy. i'm guessing you don't know all the details of the case, based on that statement. especially since you've said you like dogs. i think you should brush up on vick's history a bit more, and see if you feel any differently.

there were approximately 30+ dead dogs found buried in his yard, and vick organized dogfighting events at his house for years, and was directly involved in dog fights, and dog executions. He admitted to personally drowning and hanging 6-8 dogs, not to mentioned the numerous other dogs he allowed to be tortured and slaughtered on his premises. when cops searched the property, there were also about 40 or so dogs that showed signs of neglect and dogfighting. i could go on, but the point is i don't believe he paid enough for all the pain he caused so many innocent dogs. there's a reason vick is the most hated played in the NFL by a wide margin. he also has a bit of history prior to all the dogfighting.

I am a huge dog lover and I don't get the incessant Vick backdraft.

Who cares what your "beliefs" about the case are? The "facts" were presented in his case, he was tried iaw Constitutional due process. He was found guilty, he did his time and now he has every right to a second chance.

Continuing to deride him for the things he "did" says more about the way you "are", right now. I especially love all the critics who say he should have been beaten, shot, drowned or electrocuted like some of the dogs. What a wonderful example of hypocrisy for their children.

Standing by for 300 plus response posts deniro - manic I believe another Forumite observed recently. Save your keyboard and don't waste your time.

"He was found guilty, he did his time and now he has every right to a second chance. "

i agree, and i am not continuing to deride him, as you say. i never mention his past unless other people bring it up. i was merely saying that i believe his punishment was not sufficient for the amount of suffering he caused.

"I especially love all the critics who say he should have been beaten, shot, drowned or electrocuted like some of the dogs."

that's quite extreme and i would never imply anything of that sort.

this is a sensitive topic for many, which can obviously continue to be discussed at length. i'll take your advice and not waste any further time on this one. this topic has been discussed enough in recent years, and nothing productive will come from a continued discussion. what really prompted me to respond was "Many people do way worse things every single day."

I don't approve of what Vick did, but let's keep it in perspective. Bullfighting is celebrated as an art form. People hunt and and kill all kinds of animals for sport. I don't really see why dogs are any different. Don't get me wrong, I like dogs and I'm opposed to dog fighting as a sport. I just don't get why it's the one case of animal cruelty that makes people so upset.

well first off, we don't bullfight in this country, so you can't compare that. hunting is completely different. there are laws against torturing and killing dogs. hunting is encouraged in many areas to help regulate the population of certain animals. most people that hunt, do not torture the animal, and then make use of the kill.

heh, that was the first thought that popped in my head as well. never mind vick's reputation, i'm much more sick of hearing people talk about penn state. anyone and everyone thinks they are an authority on the matter.
